What is the difference between enrollment requests and course placement?

Enrollment requests indicate a student’s interest in a course. Enrollment requests go directly to the student’s school counselor for verification and approval. After counselor review, parents will receive confirmation that the request has been either approved or denied. Approved requests DO NOT GUARANTEE placement in courses.

If the school counselor does not review the request, it will not go to the Evening School administrative team to complete course placement. We encourage families to discuss the appropriateness of taking the summer course(s) prior to submitting an enrollment request when possible.

The school counselor will help determine if the student has met the prerequisite requirements for the course(s) selected. The counselor can also discuss how the course(s) fit with the student’s high school plan.

How do I register for courses?

Enrollment requests can be made by a parent, guardian, school counselor or school achievement liaison.

When can I register for courses?

Fall 2022 semester and year-long courses can be requested between August 15 and September 23, 2022 and Spring 2023 semester courses between November 28, 2022 and January 6, 2023.

When will students receive access to their Evening School course(s)?

Enrolled students will be added to their Canvas course(s) a few days before the scheduled course start date. Teachers will send a Canvas Announcement with important information and Google Meet code for virtual classes.

Parents/guardians of enrolled students are invited to attend a virtual parent orientation session. Register using the link below and you will receive a confirmation email with the Zoom login link:

In order for students to complete the course work required to earn high school credit, students should expect an average of three to five hours of instructional lessons and Canvas online assignments per week.

Where can I find the Google Meet code for virtual Evening School courses?

Teachers will post their Google Meet code in their Canvas course a few days before the scheduled start date. Students enrolled in a virtual class are expected to follow the Google Meet Expectations for Students and Families.

How are virtual Evening Program courses offered?

Synchronous (live) instruction will meet online via Google Meet three days per week (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday). There are two class periods (5:00 p.m. - 6:20 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. - 7:50 p.m.) with teacher office hours after each period.
