To continue meeting the growing need to feed hungry children and families in Howard County and fill the nutritional gap over the summer months, the Howard County Public School System announces its FREE SUMMER MEAL PROGRAM, which will run weekdays June 21-Aug. 4, 2023. Meals will be served only on days schools are open and there will be no meal service Tuesday, July 4.

There are no applications, enrollment or fees to participate in this program, however children must be present to receive free meals.

Current HCPSS students, including those in prekindergarten, do not need to be re-registered each year.

Online registration is now open to enroll all new students for the 2023-2024 school year. Full details on enrollment are available online.

As of Wednesday, March 29, HCPSS has used one inclement weather day this school year. As such, the last day of school for students in full-day Pre-K through grade 12 is now scheduled to be Wednesday, June 14. The last day for half-day Pre-K/RECC students is currently Friday, June 9.

Once you move and re-enroll your student(s) at their new school(s), you will be able to register for transportation during enrollment, provided your new residence is eligible for transportation. 

Please share this information with your school. They will be able to determine if you can adjust your request at that time or if have you wait until the next opening of the registration process. There will be predetermined times throughout the year that allow families to change their transportation request.  These dates will be quarterly and will most likely fall around the marking periods.

HCPSS Policy 5200 Student Transportation extended the distance between a student’s home and school that determines their eligibility for bus transportation. Utilizing transportation software, measurements will begin at the property boundary of the school/school campus from the closest adjacent suitable pathway and end at the property line of the bona fide residence.
