Similar to current HCPSS operating status codes, one of two new codes will be used:
When will inclement weather asynchronous instruction days be used?
It is HCPSS Superintendent Dr. Michael Martirano's intention that effective Nov. 2, 2022, this option will be utilized as the first three inclement weather days, barring extreme circumstances, such as a countywide internet outage, major blizzard, etc. Once all three inclement weather asynchronous instruction days have been used, we will notify staff, students and families, and all remaining weather-related incidents will be used as traditional inclement weather days.
What is the HCPSS inclement weather asynchronous instruction plan?
For the 2022-2023 school year, HCPSS will repurpose up to three inclement weather days as asynchronous instruction days. Unlike the virtual instruction utilized during the height of the COVID-19 epidemic, students will not have live online instruction and instead will complete assignments on their own.

Families and community members can find their polygon number by going to the HCPSS School Locator and typing their address in the white search box at the top left corner of the map.
How do I sign up for winter 2023 parent-teacher conferences?
Elementary school parent-teacher conferences will be held Feb. 9-10, 2023. Feb. 9 afternoon conferences will be in person and evening conferences for those teachers who are offering them will be virtual. Feb. 10 conferences will be virtual. Parents/guardians can register via HCPSS Connect Synergy beginning at 8 a.m. Friday, Jan. 27 through 4 p.m. Feb. 3.
Parents/guardians must log in with their own credentials. Please check to be sure you are not logged in as your child.
Do I need access to technology to participate in the Evening School program?
Yes. Students will need to have reliable internet access and an appropriate technological device. If your student is enrolled in HCPSS and will need a device to participate, you may submit a student technology request via HCPSS Connect online.
What happens if a student misses a class day?
Students may only earn credit for assignments due to an excused absence. Students may be excused from class or school only for reasons as specified in the Code of Maryland Regulations, 13A.08.01.02, 13A.08.01.03, 13A.08.01.06 and l3AA.10.01.04(A-B).
Can a student switch between in-person and virtual courses?
No. Once enrolled, students may not switch course sections. If students are in the in-person section, they may not attend a virtual course section. If they are in a virtual section, they may not attend in-person instruction.
