What happens with quarantine documentation if a student in quarantine who receives special education services is able to return in person prior to families completing quarantine documentation procedures?

Staff will continue to finalize the process of developing quarantine documentation for students who receive special education services so that the Alternative Service Delivery Model revisions for quarantine will be in place in the event the student must quarantine again. Staff will log the services that were provided during the quarantine period even if the revisions were not completed before the student returns to school.

Does there need to be an IEP team meeting to address the services for students receiving special education services when they are in quarantine?

No. Unless requested by the parent, Alternative Service Delivery Model revisions can be made to the IEP outside of an IEP team meeting.

While not required, holding a conference that includes the parent and identified school team members is permissible and is one way to ensure services are in place as soon as possible.

For students in quarantine who receive special education services, what is the timeline for providing services?

In alignment with the Individuals with Disabilities Act (IDEA), school staff will begin the process to provide supports to students in alignment with their IEP as soon as possible after learning they must quarantine and not more than one school day after.  During this time, staff will provide services and supports to the greatest extent possible and will log the services provided and/or missed.
