HCPSS staff are strongly encouraged to receive the COVID-19 vaccine but will not be required as a condition of employment or to enter an HCPSS building. HCPSS will continue to follow all Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines, including guidelines for social distancing and mask wearing.
The Office of Human Resources is facilitating a staff commitment form to determine which individuals will return in-person, plan to retire or resign, or are unable to return to buildings due to various health-related reasons.
On Tuesday, February 16, 2021, Central Office will enter Phase 3 of reentry. As as specified in the HCPSS Reopening Plan, Phase 3 is 25% building occupancy.

A staff member determined to be a close contact with a person with verified COVID-19 must quarantine for 14 days, with the possibility of release at 10 days under certain circumstances. Staff in quarantine must be out of school for the 10-day minimum regardless of a negative test result, while students must remain out of school for a full 14 day quarantine.
For families that opt to send students back in-person for the same number of days per week, HCPSS will make every effort to group siblings together. However, the school system cannot guarantee that siblings will be in the same grouping. Please take this into consideration when making your decision.
No. All parents/guardians have the option for their children to continue receiving fully virtual instruction through the remainder of the 2020-2021 school year.
Parents/guardians who opt for their student to remain fully virtual may request to switch to the hybrid in-person model at any time during the 2020-2021 school year. However, approval of that request is dependent on available space, social distancing guidelines, and other factors.
