What is the cost for student meals for the 2021-2022 school year?

All students may receive meals at no cost for the entire 2021-2022 school year.

The United States Department of Agriculture issued pandemic flexibilities for schools and daycare facilities through June 2022 to support safe reopening and healthy, nutritious meals. These waivers will allow schools nationwide to serve universal free breakfast and lunch through the 2021-2022 school year through USDA’s National School Lunch Program Seamless Summer Option, which is typically only available during the summer months.

If my child were in home/hospital teaching for any part of the year, who determines his or her grades?

Students' grades during Home and Hospital instruction will be determined in collaboration with the classroom teacher and the home and hospital teacher.  Final quarterly grades and exams are entered by the classroom teacher.  For time periods where the student was both in school and on home and hospital, grades will be averaged proportionately.

Is my child eligible for home teaching?

Students enrolled in the Howard County Public School system are eligible for interim Home and Hospital instructional sessions when it is determined by an appropriate medical provider per COMAR (13A.03.05.04) that a student’s medical diagnosis is serious enough to preclude school attendance (three weeks - 60 days) or a chronic health impairment that causes the student to be absent at least 20% of the time.
