What is a documented unique hardship?

A unique hardship is an extraordinary and unusual circumstance that can be verified through documentation. The hardship is one that isn’t common to a large number of people.

There are many reasons that do not qualify as unique family hardships. Please review this list of reasons reassignment is typically not granted.

Examples of family hardship that may possibly warrant reassignment include, but not limited to, the following: death or serious illness of a parent; incarceration or substance abuse of a parent; diagnosed mental health/medical issues with demonstrated academic or social impact. Please note: these examples do not guarantee a reassignment approval will be issued.

Before requesting reassignment, all concerns should begin as a school level discussion with documented attempts to reach resolution there.
