In Lightspeed Parent Portal, parents may pause their student’s ability to use the web for various amounts of time and create internet activity schedules, and block access to YouTube, websites grouped together by categories and specific websites. Settings created by parents/guardians in the Lightspeed Parent Portal are only active when the student Chromebook is not connected to the HCPSS network.
The Parent Portal allows parents/guardians to block sites in the following categories: Forums, Chat, Email; Entertainment; Hobbies and Humor; Shopping; Sports; Directory; and News. When a parent toggles the category to Blocked, all sites in that category will not be accessible when their student logs into an HCPSS Chromebook off the school system’s network.
HCPSS blocks access to social media and instant messaging services at all school levels and most game websites at middle and high school level.
