What happens if schools are unable to reach parents/guardians regarding learning opportunities for students receiving special education services who must quarantine?

Note: This help topic is out of date and currently archived.

If school-based team members are unable to contact parents/guardians following the start of their child’s quarantine period, staff will proceed with the process of adapting the IEP to provide services during quarantine.

Parents will receive a letter stating whether or not the IEP needs revisions to reflect services that cannot be provided during quarantine. Any proposed revisions will be sent via email and parents/guardians will be provided with a timeline to respond.

Parents/guardians may request a phone conference or IEP team meeting for questions or concerns about the proposed revisions. Due to the urgency of the situation, any amended IEP should be finalized within the first few days of quarantine.
