Yes, families with a contract to build, buy, or lease a home in a different attendance area may request a reassignment to the school in their projected area. Please note the following:
- Current Howard County Residents: Families have 90 calendar days from the student’s first day of attendance to be physically residing in the new home. If the move is not complete within the 90-calendar-day window, parents must apply for an extension. If an extension is not approved, the student must return to their originally designated school.
- Non-Residents (Moving into Howard County): Families currently living outside of the county may attend tuition-free for up to 90 calendar days. After 90 days, parents must apply for an extension. If granted, tuition will be assessed starting on the first day of the extension. If an extension is not granted, the student will be withdrawn and must attend school in their current district of residence.
Proof of new Howard County residency must be provided to the school as soon as the move is finalized to end the conditional status of the enrollment.
