What are the requirements for students and staff to wear masks in school buildings?

Update: July 13, 2021

Masks continue to be required for all people in school buildings that are hosting summer programs. While students and staff are expected to wear a face covering when inside the building, face coverings may be removed when eating or drinking inside and while outside the building on school property.
Though the state relaxed masking requirements, HCPSS chose to keep it in place through the duration of the summer program primarily because families understood that masks would be required during summer programs and felt shifting protocols midway through the program could create difficult decisions for students and parents/guardians who are already enrolled and participating. Masks are still required by the state on public transportation which includes school buses.
HCPSS will make a determination about mask requirements for the 2021-2022 school year and communicate the decision to stakeholders prior to the return of staff and students in August.
