Can I take fully online courses while not enrolled in HCPSS and bring them back for credit?

Yes. However, the courses are subject to transcript review.

  • For a student transferring from another Maryland public school, the fully online course must be MSDE-approved.
  • For a student transferring from an out-of-state or a Maryland non-public school, a non-MSDE-approved fully online course may be approved if the transcript review process shows that the course meets HCPSS standards.
  • If a student on Home Instruction (homeschool) enrolls in HCPSS, the school will assess the student in accordance with COMAR 13A.10.01.05 (Placement in Public School) to determine placement and whether any credits from non-MSDE-approved fully online courses are to be awarded.

Please review the Fully Online Course Enrollment Guidance document for additional information.
