Do sibling(s) or other family members of students in quarantine also have to quarantine?

Note: This help topic is out of date and currently archived.

If a student is sent home to isolate due to exhibiting COVID-like symptoms, household contacts (siblings) who are NOT vaccinated should quarantine while awaiting PCR test results.  Vaccinated household contacts do not need to quarantine unless exhibiting symptoms.

If a student is sent home to quarantine and is asymptomatic (for example, a close contact), household contacts do not need to be quarantined. However, all household contacts should watch for COVID-like symptoms and quarantine if symptoms arise.

Parents/guardians are reminded that students should NOT come to school with any of these symptoms:

  • fever of 100.4 degrees or higher
  • sore throat
  • cough
  • difficulty breathing
  • diarrhea or vomiting
  • new onset of severe headache (especially with fever), or
  • new loss of taste or smell

Unvaccinated siblings of students being kept home due to the above symptoms also should remain at home. More details on daily health checks are available online.
