What extracurricular opportunities will be available for students attending Guilford Park High School (High School 13)?

Note: This help topic is out of date and currently archived.

As we get closer to the opening of Guilford Park High School, HCPSS staff will work collaboratively with students and families to meet the needs and interests of all students and explore creative solutions that allow students to participate in a wide range of extracurricular opportunities. GPHS Principal Josh Wasilewski and Assistant Principal Adrienne Williams bring a wealth of experience and excitement to their new roles.

It is anticipated that students at GPHS will have the opportunity during the school’s first year to participate at the junior varsity (JV) level in most team sports. Student-athletes participating in sports that have an individual component (e.g., track and field) may participate at the JV or varsity level. The HCPSS allied sport program will also be available for students. All sports will be offered at both the JV and varsity levels at the beginning of the 2024-25 school year.

GPHS students will also be able to participate in many other activities that are considered part of the high school experience such as a wide variety of fine arts programs, clubs, Student Government Association, Spirit Week, pep rallies, and dances. Student voice will be an integral component in decision making and there will be many opportunities for family involvement including Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA), Boosters, and other volunteer activities. The school administration will begin meeting with students interested in participating in student planning sessions in spring 2023 and the PTSA/Boosters will also start meeting during that time.
