The Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) received approval to waive federal 2019-2020 Assessment and Accountability Requirements. Consequently, HCPSS will not administer the MCAP English language, mathematics, science and social studies assessments, the American Government high school assessment or the Maryland School Survey for this school year.

The assessments for Algebra I, English 10, American Government, and the MISA have been waived for students who passed the course in the 2019-2020 school year. The waiver also applies to students who were reassessing or completing Bridge Projects for Academic Validation during the current school year. Students are still required to pass the assessed courses for credit. Assessment graduation requirements will resume for students taking the assessed courses in the 2020-2021 school year.
